“Word, image, and sound all must have primacy in the development of the narrative.” – Fred Ritchin
This workshop is designed to explore the varied possibilities of storytelling and the use of photography combined with other media. In an era characterized by the proliferation of digital communication and by an increasingly interconnect mediascape, it is a necessity for visual artists to confront themselves with a multitude of different languages and media which constantly influence and shape the production of meaning.
The workshop is open to photographers and artists interested in exploring the varied possibilities of storytelling and the use of photography combined with other media. They will be guided and provided with an understanding of the potential of using different media in order to communicate and deliver one story. The participants will be invited to explore, research and present a narrative which will be then developed using different strategies. From a theoretical introduction to practical exercises, the final aim is to create a transmedia narrative.
The possibilities are many and include working with sound, text, archive, video, social media platforms, web etc.
